# a / b

*Command · Math, Config · Arma 3 v0.50 · introduced in Operation Flashpoint v1.00*

## Description

Returns the quotient of two numbers. If the divisor is 0 a *Division by zero* error is shown but the script does not stop and the result of such division is assumed to be 0.

Alternative syntax returns the [Config](../topics/Config.md) entry with the given name (alias for [>>](../commands/config_greater_greater_name.md), slightly slower but with [higher precedence](../topics/Operators.md#order-of-precedence)).

## Syntax

### Syntax 1

```sqf
a / b
```

**Parameters:**

- `a`: [Number](../topics/Number.md) - dividend
- `b`: [Number](../topics/Number.md) - divisor

**Returns:** [Number](../topics/Number.md) - quotient

### Syntax 2

*since arma1 1.00*

```sqf
config / name
```

**Parameters:**

- `config`: [Config](../topics/Config.md)
- `name`: [String](../topics/String.md)

### Syntax 3

**Returns:** [Config](../topics/Config.md) - config entry

## Examples

### Example 1

```sqf
_result = 15 / 3; // result is 5
```

### Example 2

```sqf
_cfgVehicles = configFile / "CfgVehicles"; // identical to configFile >> "CfgVehicles" (but the order of precedence)
```
