# customChat

*Command · Radio and Chat, Custom Radio and Chat · Arma 3 v0.50*

Locality: arguments **global** · effect **local**

## Description

Sends the chat message to the custom radio channel. The radio channel needs to be created on the server before hand, with [radioChannelCreate](../commands/radioChannelCreate.md) command. Use [clearRadio](../commands/clearRadio.md) to clear chat history

> [!IMPORTANT]
> The unit must have an [assigned](../commands/assignItem.md) radio item (such as ***"ItemRadio"***) to see or transmit the messages. A radio item must have the property `simulation = "ItemRadio";` in its CfgWeapons config.

## Syntax

```sqf
unit customChat [customChannelID, message]
```

**Parameters:**

- `unit`: [Object](../topics/Object.md) - sender
- `customChannelID`: [Number](../topics/Number.md) - Custom channel ID returned by [radioChannelCreate](../commands/radioChannelCreate.md) command
- `message`: [String](../topics/String.md)

**Returns:** [Nothing](../topics/Nothing.md)
