# customRadio

*Command · Radio and Chat, Sounds, Custom Radio and Chat · Arma 3 v0.50*

Locality: arguments **global** · effect **local**

## Description

Sends the message to the custom radio channel. The message is defined in the [description.ext](../topics/Description.ext.md) file or radio protocol.

> [!IMPORTANT]
> The unit must have an [assigned](../commands/assignItem.md) radio item to the radio inventory slot (such as ***"ItemRadio"***) to see or transmit the messages. A radio item must have the property `simulation = "ItemRadio";` in its CfgWeapons config.

> [!NOTE]
> When transmitting unit gets killed, transmission will be interrupted. However when receiving unit gets killed, the transmission continues to play.

## Syntax

```sqf
```

**Parameters:**

- `customChannelID`: [Number](../topics/Number.md) - custom channel ID returned by [radioChannelCreate](../commands/radioChannelCreate.md) command
- `message`: [String](../topics/String.md)

**Returns:** [Nothing](../topics/Nothing.md)

## Community notes

**Killzone_Kid** — 2016-12-03

To transmit user custom sounds (see Multiplayer_Custom_Sounds_Tutorial), prefix the full filename including file extension with #. For example if there is a custom user sound file called `MySound.ogg`, to play it on the radio use:

```sqf
player customRadio [1, "#MySound.ogg"];
```
