# stop

*Command · Unit Control · Arma 3 v0.50 · introduced in Operation Flashpoint v1.00*

Locality: arguments **local** · effect **global**

## Description

Stop an AI unit from turning or moving, preventing it to follow a watched object or engage an enemy properly - although if properly aligned, the unit -will- shoot the enemy. In essense, this is a scripted flag to suppress some of the AI procedures (to check the flag use [stopped](../commands/stopped.md)).
It may still change the stance if deemed appropriate (e.g. under fire). Use [disableAI](../commands/disableAI.md) to disable specific AI capabilities.

## Syntax

```sqf
unitName stop toggle
```

**Parameters:**

- `unitName`: [Object](../topics/Object.md)
- `toggle`: [Boolean](../topics/Boolean.md)

**Returns:** [Nothing](../topics/Nothing.md)

## Examples

### Example 1

```sqf
loon1 stop true;
```
