# unitPos

*Command · Unit Control · Arma 3 v0.50 · introduced in Armed Assault v1.00*

Locality: arguments **global**

## Description

Return the unit position rules.

The return value is always "Auto" unless the unit has gotten a [setUnitPos](../commands/setUnitPos.md) command. In that case the value is the last stance the unit was ordered to.

Available modes are listed at [setUnitPos](../commands/setUnitPos.md).

## Syntax

```sqf
unitPos unit
```

**Parameters:**

- `unit`: [Object](../topics/Object.md)

**Returns:** [String](../topics/String.md) - one of `"Auto"`, `"Up"`, `"Middle"`, `"Down"` (as of Arma 3)

## Examples

### Example 1

```sqf
hint str unitPos _unit;
```

## Multiplayer

Unit pos set by [setUnitPosWeak](../commands/setUnitPosWeak.md) is not returned for remote (non-local) units.
