# BIS_fnc_blackOut

*Function · GUI · Arma 3 v1.00*

## Description

Register a black screen. Start the black screen when the first request is registered.

## Syntax

```sqf
[id, smoothing, fadeSpeed] call BIS_fnc_blackOut
```

**Parameters:**

- `id`: [String](../topics/String.md) - black screen id used for registration (case sensitive)
- `smoothing`: [Boolean](../topics/Boolean.md) - (Optional, default [true](../commands/true.md)) smooth transition - [false](../commands/false.md) for an immediate blackout
- `fadeSpeed`: [Number](../topics/Number.md) - (Optional, default 2) transition duration (if *smoothing* is [true](../commands/true.md))

**Returns:** [Nothing](../topics/Nothing.md)
